Duane:
The 48S was our Dad's first Harley, too. We have no idea
what Dad paid for it, but it couldn't have been much,
because there were SIX of us kids! Wayne might remember
what year Dad brought it home. We believe it was the only
bike Dad brought home that was actually running! The 53ST &
the 56B that Dad acquired some time later were BOTH basket
cases.
Bruce Mackenzie DID do an excellent job of restoring ALL
THREE of these bikes!

My older brother bragged that his 48S is older than he is.
And it IS! (But not by much). Wayne had his 48S restored
the same year I had my 56B restored. Bruce Mackenzie did
both restorations in 2009. The boxes containing my 56B were
delivered to Bruce's shop in Dekalb, IL, the VERY SAME DAY
Wayne was there delivering his bike to Bruce for its
restoration!
