DAVE :
ADDED COMMENT RE PART NUMBER 45951-47, UPPER ROCKER ARM SHAFT ASSEMBLY. I HAVE ABOUT 30 OF THESE WITH ONLY 3 OR 4 BEING THE LATE EDITION.
AS MUTT NOTED,THE ASSEMBLY YOU PICTURED CAME ON THE 1950 MODEL ONLY.
THERE WERE TWO PROBLEMS WITH THE EARLY ASSEMBLY:
FIRSTLY, THE SIDE ARMS WERE NARROW BETWEEN THE END BOSSES
AT 9/16 INCH AND WITH ROUGH RIDING COULD AND WOULD BEND BOTH DIRECTIONS. (UPWARD AND SIDEWAYS).
SECOND AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, THERE WERE NO STOPS FOR
THE SWING MOTION AND IF IT WENT TOO FAR, THE THE TOP BAND OF THE DOUBLED RUBBER BAND SIDE SET COULD AND SOMETIMES DID COME OFF THE FORK PEG RETAINING COLLAR (45810-47)

THAT SAID, THE CORRECTION WAS WHAT YOU SEE. THEY WIDENED THE ARM BETWEEN END BOSSES TO 11/16 IN. FOR STRENGTH, , ADDED THE LIMITING LOBE AND PUT THE "EXOTIC" SQUARE STOP ON THE FORK TO ENGAGE THE LOBE. THIS LIMITED THE SWING TO
SOLVE RUBBER BAND ESCAPEMENT. IN ADDITION, THEY CHANGED GEOMETRY OF PN 45810-47 COLLAR WHICH WAS ROUND, BY ADDITION OF A LOBE ON THE LOWER SIDE SO THAT THE BAND WOULD BE RETAINED. I HAVE NOS OF BOTH TYPES OF 45810-47 AND THEY DID NOT CHANGE THE PART NUMBER. I WOULD POST A PICTURE EXCEPT I DON'T KNOW HOW.

----- ORIGINAL MESSAGE FOLLOWS -----
HELLO, I HAVE 2 RUBBER BAND FRONT ENDS. THE 1 IN THE 1ST PICTURE, I GOT WITH A 1950S BASKET CASE. IT HAS A STOP BUILT ONTO IT, AND THE OTHER DOES'NT. WOULD THIS FRONT END WITH STOPS BEEN FOR NOT COMPLETELY BOTTOMING OUT IF THE BANDS BROKE? THE ARMS ON THE FIRST PICTURE ARE WIDER. I WOULD GUESS THE FIRST 1 WOULD BE THE ONE TO GO WITH? ANY KNOWLEDGE WOULD BE APPRECIATED. THANKS TO ALL.
