RE TITLES;

OREGON HAS A VERY EASY PROCEDURE TO GET A TITLE:TAKE THE BIKE TO ANY DMV OFFICE WITH A CHECK FOR $84. FILL OUT THEIR FORM, AN INSPECTOR WILL LOOK AT THE BIKE AND ENGINE NUMBER. DMV DOES A SEARCH AND IF NO PROBLEM IS FOUND, A TITLE WILL ARRIVE IN THE MAIL IN ABOUT 2 WEEKS.

ONE OF MY CLIENTS IN ARIZONA WAS LOOKING AT 5 YEARS AND 700-800 DOLLARS TO GET A TITLE. I HAD HIM SEND HIS ENGINE TO HIS BROTHER IN SALEM, OR. HE BORROWED ONE OF MY UNRESTORED BIKES, SWITCHED ENGINES, DID THE OREGON DMV PROCESS AND THEN SENT THE ENGINE BACK TO ARIZONA. ONCE HE HAD THE OREGON TITLE IT WAS EASY AND INEXPENSIVE TO GET THE ARIZONA TITLE. THE ENGINE SHIP COST ROUND TRIP WAS $140.

ALL LEGAL AND FAIRLY EASY.

I'm looking at buying a Hummer but it has no title. Apparently these were sold without a title back in the day - just a bill of sale. Anyway what are the problems I might encounter if I buy a bike without a title?
