I need to make a correction. Not wanting to mislead any one,
what I should have said was your 48 "could" be wired, so the
horn was hot all the time, as most generator models were, but
it would all depend on what wiring diagram one used to wire the
bike, so to be correct, 1948 models didn't have a hot horn
from the Factory.

Should the horn be hot even when the switch is in the off
position? Mine is, and looking at the wiring diagram, it looks
like it would be. Something is putting a drain on the battery,
and that was the first thing I spotted.
