Your right case was MACHINED for a 1960 Super 10, (960)
your left case was machined for a 1961 Super 10 (961) Both
cases could have been cast in the year 1960. If you remove
the clutch cover, you'll see a block cast into the case
that will have a digit and 59,60 or 61. This is the month
and the year that particular case was CAST. Then 2 case
halves would be put together and machined as a set and the
belly numbers stamped on both case halves.
Did someone cut off the 2 fender mounting bosses on both of
your fork sliders? All models 51 and up had them, even if
the bike didn't have a front fender

Why do you think it is a '61? was there no lead time in
manufacturing ? If it reads Sept '61, wouldn't that be
for a '62 production?

Looks like you have a 1961 Super 10 motor.
are ya talking about these tabs?

So I guess the cases are mismatched. RT case is 9-60 2019
and LF is 9-61 2380. So I guess the mystery is still out
there. I do have the 59-62 speedometer, AC with trip.
What else can I check?

I was talking about the two small brackets, one on each
fork, that the high mounted Scat fender bolted to . .
mine doesn't have it, thus seems to not be a Scat. But I
will check the bottom on the engine. Thanks

Yep, there is a way to tell. Turn the motor upside down
,
You will see a number on both case halves, like 162-xxxx
The first set of numbers is the year the cases were
machined.
The lower tree only needs to have a hole in it to mount
the
front fender. If your tree doesn't have a 1/4" hole in
the
middle of it, it's from a 1951 model 125.

Just bought a bike. It seems to be a Frankenstein
of
sorts, but what is it really?
Serial number . . only one digit in the beginning to
identify year, not two. BT after the one digit, which is
a
6. Is this a normal oddity?
Has a hardtail frame, with a Scat rear fender. No front
fender . . but weird thing is no mounting place on fork
for
Scat front fender.
It has a 19" rear wheel, but 18 front. I'm guessing the
rear was changed at some point.
It is the larger engine, but without taking it apart, 165
or 175?? Again, without the year, no way to tell right?
