well, if your frame number is 1K, that would mean the frame was manufactured in November of 1961. H-D started selling 1962 models in Septmeber of 1961, so the frame is a 1962 model for sure. The 961 belly number of you left case makes the left case a 1961 Super 10. The "9" isn't Septmeber, but the number HD used to designate a particular motor type, in the case of all 1960 to 1966 models, the 9 stood for "lightweight", not Panhead or Servicar or Sportster ----- ORIGINAL MESSAGE FOLLOWS ----- Based on all the frame information, forks etc . .what is your thought on the frame ? ----- ORIGINAL MESSAGE FOLLOWS ----- ----- ORIGINAL MESSAGE FOLLOWS ----- ----- ORIGINAL MESSAGE FOLLOWS ----- 1 K I believe ----- ORIGINAL MESSAGE FOLLOWS ----- I cleaned the paint off and found " 1 " and possibly a" K ". It definitely is not the full "K", but it is straight lines and one is at an angle. "K" would be the only letter like that. The triple tree number is 45692-53 I want to thank you for you're help. ----- ORIGINAL MESSAGE FOLLOWS ----- Harley started stamping all their frames during 1952 no date code on frames made in the year 1951 ----- ORIGINAL MESSAGE FOLLOWS ----- And here are he numbers. This is 8 J. That would note the frame being made in October of 1958, which would be a 1959 model 165 frame ----- ORIGINAL MESSAGE FOLLOWS ----- here is a pic of the left lower side of the neck where the numbers are ----- ORIGINAL MESSAGE FOLLOWS ----- didn't have time yester evening to get some pics, so I did first thing this morn. Here is the left side of a random frame ----- ORIGINAL MESSAGE FOLLOWS ----- So I believe this frame to be used from 53-59. Since I have the 59-up speedometer . .seems I could build this as a '59 ? I know it is a Frankenstein, but it seems my parts would best match to build it looking like a '59. |
