IF MY MEMORY IS CORRECT, THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IN THE MAGNETO COILS IS THE WIRE END CONNECTORS. THAT SAID, YOU CAN USE
EITHER COIL IN EITHER POSITION WITH A CHANGE IN CONNECTORS.

OTHER POSSIBLE PROBLEMS:
MAGNETO ROTOR WITH WEAK/MAG FIELDS.
SPARK COIL SOCKET CORROSION
DEFECTIVE SPARK PLUG. I HAVE SEEN BRAND NEW ONES THAT WERE
DEFECTIVE.

I DO HAVE NOS MAG COILS IF YOU NEED SAME.

GOOD LUCK, DUANE TAYLOR

Finally found the probable reason this bike was abandoned to the elements for many years. Almost finished with the restoration but can't get a spark sufficient to fire the engine. Replaced everything but the ignition coil and magnets. Magnets appear good so the only thing left is the ignition coil.
Parts manual calls for a 29574-58 coil for the 62 BTH. All I can find is a 29574-55 coil. The 62 uses an ignition and break lite coil so maybe that is the difference.
Can I use the -55 coil on my 62 BTH? If not what are my options?
So close to driving down the road and yet so far.

Any advise?
