Thanks Doug. I'm waiting on the new Alum. rims.
I am also for the heck of it sanding and polishing the old steel.....might be
an interesting look.

The stock rim measures 2&1/4" inside (about 3&1/4" outside) The original
I now have is coated with so much paint & rust I can't be much more
specific than that. Doug

Heck I don't know the actual real size, but they are a wider size, 2-1/4" I
think.

Thanks Doug. What was the original rim size for the 48? ___x19 x 36
spoke?

Not Aluminum but different steel rims.

I used (cheep, new) motocross rims from the local motorcycle salvage
shop, steel rims Araya 1.40 19, 36 spoke on the stock hubs.. I trued the
rim with old bicycle spokes then ordered Bucanans stainless to fit. These
rims won't fit a 3.25 19 so I've mounted 2.75 19.

I see no reason to not use aluminum rims. I'll bet Buckanans will make
spokes with the names only. Anodized Red (say)?

That's brakes not breaks!

After much time away. Work related. Seems the war is going to let me
take a break.
I am finally back to work on my 48s Hummer race project. Has anyone
laced aluminum dirt bike rims to the original hubs and mechanical
breaks? Any suggestions on aluminum rims to use?
Thanks,
Kent
