Also, any thoughts on what the Bobcats are worth? My plan is to sell this once it's fixed. ----- ORIGINAL MESSAGE FOLLOWS ----- Wow. I feel dumb...I had no idea that was a button, but yes and thank you Doug! No luck stumping anyone here luckily! All of you have saved me loads of time and sanity, thanks again! ----- ORIGINAL MESSAGE FOLLOWS ----- Does your bike have a button on the front of the right case. It is supposed to contact the points and short out the spark. That stops the running. Doug ----- ORIGINAL MESSAGE FOLLOWS ----- Dr. P, you are the man, thank you...so this bike has no ignition or kill switch? ----- ORIGINAL MESSAGE FOLLOWS ----- Try this Paul, ----- ORIGINAL MESSAGE FOLLOWS ----- First of all, thank you both very much for your time and responses...spent all day on it and neither coil is getting any power so I can only assume its the rotor. I sanded the points and cleaned all contacts as well as tried a new ignition coil. There is a 3 position switch on the side of her and I tried all 3 positions too. There is a spare wire that's not connected on either end but its too short to go to the anything important. If either of you have a wiring diagram for the whole bike I'd appreciate it..all I could find was the mag rotor PDF on here. Thanks again guys, and Stan I'll be in contact ASAP, thanks again! ----- ORIGINAL MESSAGE FOLLOWS ----- Nice Bobcat. Clean the plate-to-coil plates & all electrical connections. Mine didn't spark so I measured then took the points off, cleaned everything put it all back together & I got spark, just not timed. no key on the rotor. While you've got it off check that the magnito coils have continuity and no grounding. Stan's solution is common remember it's been 55 years since latest charging of the magnets. Doug ----- ORIGINAL MESSAGE FOLLOWS ----- Hi Paul First try the sanding of the points. It sometimes does the job. I Recharge the rotors,It cost $30 plus shipping. My address is in the parts section of this site also my ph. number if you need more info on the bike. By the way very nice bobcat. Stan Waite ----- ORIGINAL MESSAGE FOLLOWS ----- NEW GUY HERE AND IM LOST AFTER TAKING BIKE TO MY LOCAL HARLEY DEALER. I HAVE NO SPARK ON MY BOBCAT BUT WAS TOLD THEY GOT SPARK WHEN THEY POWERED THE CONDENSER WITH A BATTERY. BEING TOLD I NEED THE MAG RE-ENERGIZED AND THEY DONT KNOW WHERE TO GET THAT DONE, BUT THEY DON'T SEEM VERY KNOWLEDGABLE ON THE OLDER BIKES AS I WAS TOLD I NEEDED THE SAME SERVICE ON MY TOPPER AND I FIXED IT BY SANDING THE POINTS. I HAVEN'T ATTEMPTED TO SAND THE BOBCAT'S YET AS I JUST GOT IT BACK FROM THEM, HOPING TO SOAK UP SOME OF THE KNOWLEDGE FROM ANY AND ALL THAT MAY BE ABLE TO HELP! THANK YOU! PAUL |
