Wow, cool catch CJ....and this is one of the reasons I value my 1946 unrestored Indian Chief....it was the nine hundred and 59th that rolled off the assembly line when the ban on civilian motorcycles was lifted after World War II.....hence CDF959.....one of the first 1000.

Don't know for sure, but read that there were no plates issued in 1952
because of metal shortage brought on by the Korean War. Seems as if
they continued to issue 1951 plates.
