I do have the 47 James. I also have a 48 Simplex Servi-cycle and a 67 BSA Starfire. I'd sell the BSA, but wouldn't give it away. These are just things that I wanted in my younger days, but my father couldn't afford them. I wrote a book about my 12 years in the Navy, and the story is in there about why I joined on my 17th birthday.

Jim, Do you presently have the '47 James? I had a '46 James as a teen. Had a '49 Harley 125 at the time also, and you are right in that the Harley was faster and easier to shift. Still wish I had it back. A unique bike. Thanks. jim

That could be my 1947 Famous James, except for the colors. The James was not connected with BSA. Actually, the Harley 125 put them out of business in the USA, due to the fact that it would run faster and had a foot shift, which was unique at the time

A 1943 Famous James showed up at our annual Antiques in the Park show today. These may have been the precursor for the BSA Bantam
