My (2 cents worth) summary: The saddlebags for the 65: PN 91003-65 for a pair. (right and left have different numbers ). The body material was 2 ply, some type of plastic sandwich (black base) with a white overlay for the exposed side and slightly grained to look like leather. This material is pretty stiff. The top opening cover was leather with white finish to match the bag body. The closer was a small dumb bell shaped rod that rotated, it looks like stainless. The bag shape is like that seen in the parts book, page 66, lower right. How do I know this. I have one NOS bag left, in the original box which is a little tattered ( like myself). DUANE TAYLOR ----- ORIGINAL MESSAGE FOLLOWS ----- If they are smaller, they are probably 1959-60 Sportster saddlebags of the same era ----- ORIGINAL MESSAGE FOLLOWS ----- I will do some measuring but I THINK they are smaller than Panhead bags. They are also plastic, I remember the early big bike bags as being fiberglass (been a while so I could be wrong). The brackets seem to be die cut. I will find some glasses and see if I can make out the part number. ----- ORIGINAL MESSAGE FOLLOWS ----- the saddle bags on that bike are for a Panhead, that would make them a period correct accessory as they were sold at the Dealership the same year the bike was sold new. ----- ORIGINAL MESSAGE FOLLOWS ----- STEVE: THE SADDLEBAGS/HANGARS ON YOUR BIKE ARE NOT SEEN IN ANY OF THE ACCESSORY CATALOGS FOR THESE BIKES. THEY ARE PROBABLY AFTERMARKET. I DID MAKE A SPECIAL VARIANT OF THE EARLY LUGGAGE RACK SO IT WOULD FIT THE SWING ARM MODELS. SAFETY BARS, AND OTHER PARTS ARE AVAILABLE IF/WHEN YOU NEED THEM. DUANE TAYLOR ----- ORIGINAL MESSAGE FOLLOWS ----- Just got this 65 Pacer sweetheart and looking to add a few things to it. The seller indicated he had found a link to an accessories page that showed the saddlebags but I am not internet savvy enough to find it, Can someone post or send me a link please or anyone have a nice original available? Reproduced? I know I want to add a crash bar and an oil can and bracket, maybe a mud flap. Don't know if a rear rack will work with the bags or if I will like it if it does but wouldn't mind having one put back if they were available. Maybe a tool box if those were available. I am also in search of front brake parts. I haven't torn it down but suspect the front brake has no internals or at the very least a broken cam. I would like to find an entire setup so I can have it ready to plug and play when I do tear it down. |
