Because Dave nor Brent believes the same way I do about |
AmeriKan goverment, & Pigs/thieves/murderer/rapists, that
is still no reason to be biased. If they think it's ok for
others to knowingly upcharge people, they have the right to
believe that way.
Check back emails here. MANY are the times that Mr.Taylor
and HarleyHummer.com get the "parts" push. Me, if I want
advertising, generally only if I push it myself. Many
people that have been on the site for a while are under the
impression that this is my website. I tell them no, I've
just been a club member since the 1980's and I try to
For over 3 years now, I have begged both Dave and Brent to
give me the password so I could up date all the technical
pages myself,on a regular basis; since they evidently could
care less. Total cost to them ? NOTHING !! I work 0700 to
2100 hours at least 5 days a week. I ain't retired, nor am
I made outta money.I do what needs to be done, becasue it
needs to be done and if ya want it done these days, you
better do it yourself.
Neither told me no, they simply just didn't answer my
email. I would rather have been told no, than blown off.
In my neck of the woods, That's rude. I understand Fears,
too. The site is dying. When offered FREE updating, they
reject it. I think that must be what they want.
Restoration and preservation need more than a few words.
It needs pictures and updates on a regular basis. If the
newer crowd want to "customize" their bikes, I'm all for
it.They did it in the 50's and they are still doing it
today. If they want to race them like they did in the
40's/50's. I'm all for that too. It's about RIDING.
Why not a Tech Tip section? Why not a video section? I'm
not trying to be a prick, I'm trying to understand why the
rejection of updating, free of charge? Like Fears say, one
of these days Brent and Dave will both be gone, but the
bikes will still remain. Why don't they just hand the torch
to someone else and retire and go ride?

A few months ago some might remember this
same....discussion. There was a web
developer and myself (web designer) who reached out to
Dave, Brent and the
Exchange members to offer up our services to rebuild this
website on our own
dime. I exchanged emails with Dave and he wrote me a
lengthy email reply about
his position on the site.
I know Dave can speak for himself, but I'll paraphrase
Daves thoughts here since
he was good to respond to my questions. He believes the
sites sole purpose to to
be a resource for the restoration of the bikes and what the
site is in need of is
technical content. So what we need is for those people with
to fill-in-the-blanks on the other How-To-Restore by-year
1955 Hummer page - Completed
Pages with incomplete information
( He pointed out a good example is that of the Harley K
I wonder if completing these pages would satisfy Dave to
let us rework the site. I
hope so. Since that earlier discussion I asked around to a
few of these
knowledgeable folks and the response I received back was
"we could complete
most of this information, but there are differences of
opinions on small details (like
what color was the stitching on the seats of a 1951,
Black? White? etc..etc..). To
me it seems like a minor issue to resolve, but not for some
As we all know most of these guys are getting older or
losing interest making it
harder to gather this information. I want to do my part but
knowing all these details
just isn't in my wheelhouse, so I'll stick to building
Hopefully there is a compromise out there somewhere. Maybe
someone out there
is willing to give these pages a shot?
