Wasn't 48 front b/p a 1 year only, in that the speedo cable drive gear holder grease fitting was not yet drilled & tapped?

No, that hole was drilled and tapped, and used a 10-24 x 7/8 slotted round head screw that was only partially threaded, instead of the grease fitting/holder. However, the boss under it was not drilled and tapped on Fridays and Mondays on the early 48 models. I guess the dude that was drilling those holes had a hang over some mornings and just forgot. I've seen maybe 3 of those plates in 30 years. I still have one of them,
