L&L carb differences

Postby Joep » Sat Feb 09, 2019 11:58 am

Got a question on the carb for my 1951

What was the difference between S1 till S4 ?

I have a carb which does say S1 and one that does say S2 but this is just the top cap indication, as for the rrst they are identical

What I noticed is that the diameter from the cylinder outlet to the card is smaller than the carb hole itself, even with the thin seal which is supposed to be in there. So this made me wonder that I dont have an S1 but a higher number as I needed to make some piece to make the cylinder and carb fit properly together

This also made me wonder if there are other difference between the one I should have (1951 125cc) and the one im using now. Not that it matters much as the machine runs just fine, just curious

Thanks

Joep, The S-1 is for a 48-52 125, the S-2 is for the 1953 only , the S-3 for the 54-58 165 and the S-4 for the 59 ST only.
The slide in the S-1 is smaller than the 2,3 & 4. The slide in the #2 is smaller than the 3 and 4. The only difference in the carbs 3 and 4 is the brass needle seat. 48-58 model carbs all use a metal line, the 59 uses a rubber hose. The intake spigot on the 1 is small, teh 2 slightly larger and the 3 & 4 larger yet.
