Re-paint question, decals.

I'm refinishing the sheet metal on a '63 Scat and Pacer, and would like to replicate the original graphics. I'm using a base coat/clear coat urethane system. The plan is to apply the main color and white tank stripes using base coat, then apply the decals, then clear coat. Anyone have experience clear coating the water applied type of decals? I've done it successfully in the past using acrylic enamel, but was wondering if the catalized urethane paints would "lift" the decals. What's a good source for the decals? Advice is greatly appreciated.

Decals can be purchased at Harley Hummer.com and include full instructions!
You will be fine!
After the decals are applied, use a very light and dry coat of clear.
Let it cure fully.
Then apply a second light and dry coat of clear.
Let it cure fully.
Then you can proceed with a final wet and heavy coat of clear!

When you're finished post pictures. I have a '62 Scat project in the works and may need to hire you in the not too distant future. In my area lower cost gets you what you pay for. The better painters are too expensive as they have a good stream of antique car buffs with money to burn. I'm building a rider so not looking for AMCA restoration judging.

I'm shooting for a "rider quality" job. My son calls that "substandard workmanship". lol! I will post photos, Brent, but even though I appreciate the expression of confidence in my painting ability, I'd prefer just to screw up my own stuff instead of someone else's.

Totally understandable, but it sure doesn't hurt to ask. Best of Luck with it.
