Working on my 48, and have questions on the correct finish for the various parts. Does anyone make a guide for the correct restoration of the two stroke Harleys? I am going with black wheels thanks to people here, but a lot more info is needed to be fairly correct. Thanks, Stan

There are a wealth of pics scattered about on the site here for you to get the idea of finishes on your 48, Stan. I don't know of a 1 stop "guide
" to 48 restoration on here, sorry.

The color choices in 1948 were simple: Black!
While it looks great on a fresh paint restoration, clear coat was not done in 48 from the factory, so depending on your level of restoration, you should take that into consideration.
Good luck & post pics when you finish it...

Can you post it Mutt, or is this a saleable item?

Yep, it took 25 years of research and restorations to get all the details for the 48-62 rigid frame models.
