53 St165 Rubber Riser Bushing Help

Postby Zach72202 » Sun Sep 01, 2019 12:54 pm

So I have recently acquired my first motorcycle, a 1953 Harley Hummer 165cc, and the only problem I have run into at this moment is the rubber riser bushing that hold the handlebars on are probably original and no longer hold them on and I have looked high and low for a replacement for them (Part No 56158-51) and cannot find anything. As I am new to this world of wrenchin on bikes does anybody know what would be a good replacement for these? Thank you!

I also searched for many hours online to find those bushings. I found lots that were really close in size. I called a few of the companies, no one had what I needed, so I just removed the old bushing and it's steel sleeve, then machined a piece of aluminum and pressed it into the riser and it makes them rigid mounted bars.

I know this is an old thread but I have been looking for a bushing to fit as well and wonder if anyone has tried Harley part number 56158-49. It sure looks close.
