You ruined my rim

The rims on my 48 125 had bad chrome. I wanted to paint them black. I took one rim to a platting shop to strip off the chrome . The shop left the rim in the stripping tank too long. The main problem was the spoke nipple holes were way over size, and a couple holes had metal eaten away, and the rest of the rim had was pitted real bad. I have another wheel I will take apart, and this time I will sand it good, and apply epoxy primer. I did that to the first rim, but it took a long of sanding, and sand blasting to get past the bad chrome to good metal. With a good two part paint it should be ok. I just hate to see a 70 year part ruined. Stan
