Newbies: Model 125/165 Carburator Adjustment

MODEL 125 and MODEL 165 CARBURATOR (marked "L&L")

There were several models of L&L carburators used on the Model 125s and Model 165s. See the Carburator Chapter in How-To-Restore for details.

Before starting the bike, hold down on the Priming Pin (tickler) for a few seconds until gas starts leaking out. If no gas comes out, you've got a clog somewhere - clogged gas cap, clogged petcock, or clogged carburator from sitting for years without running. Once cleaned and properly adjusted, the carburator is seldom the problem.

The Service Manual contains complete dis/assembly instructions. If you don't have one, you really need one. Harley Part# 99444-93 is available from your local dealer. $40 gets you a Service Manual, a Parts Catalog, and much much more.
