I am in the process of restoring a 1963 Pacer and came across a threaded hole in the rear of the frame just behind the back end of the rear engine mount on the right side of the bike. I don't know what it is for and don't remember removing anything from it when I disassembled the bike. Can anyone tell me what this hole is for? I have attached a picture of the hole.

From the Home Page, if you go to How to Restore and click on The Pohlman Photos - Jerry Hatfield’s collecting of H-D advertising photos; Click here…
Then go down to the bottom of the list of photos to the photo showing the Pacer Suspension and zoom in, you will see that same hole and it is not populated.
In the photo it is above muffle/header clamp, just below the rear brake rod.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for your reply 250_Sprint but I think the little white circle you see in the Pohlman picture is just a reflection. That little white circle is too far away from the rear end of the engine and too far down. What would be really helpful would be for someone that owns a 1963 or later Pacer to check their bike and see if anything is attached to that threaded hole. That hole is round with a nut welded to the back side and on the opposite side there is another hole with out a nut welded to it.

I found two pictures that clearly show the mystery holes on both side of the bike from before I painted it. One picture shows the unthreaded hole on the left side of the frame and the other shows the threaded hole on the right side of the frame.
