Handlebars wobble

Postby Emerica1975 » Mon Mar 14, 2022 11:54 pm

Does anyone have any tips on how to keep the handlebars from having side to side freeplay. I have the standard bars and have tightened them down even stripping the nut on pinch bolt. And making sure the fork stem nut is as tight as it’ll go. But still the bars have free play.
Thanks!

it has nothing to do with the stem nut.The issue is with the stop pin inside the stem and the slot in the stem of the handlebars. It would either be that ypu are not getting the slots in the handlebars to fully register with the pin inside the neck stem, or The slots are worn in the handlebars. The slots are supposed to be 3/16" wide from end to end. If you remove your bars, you can see if this is teh case. I fix this problem on lots of handlebars. Requires a TIG welder and a file
