Motor sprocket

I just got the clutch hub free on my 1955 st but now the motor sprocket is being difficult. I’ve tried 2 different pullers but it won’t budge. I’ve tried penatraiting oil and even a little heat. I’m Leary of too much heat though because of the crank seal. And I’m afraid to pry and bugger up the case. Does any one know of a specific puller or any trick to pull this off. The key looks to be straight still.

Excellent tool!
May I suggest running the stud through the puller several times to clean up the threads on both the stud and the sprocket puller.
Nice tool but the threads are a bit rough.
Same goes for threading the tool onto the sprocket.
It makes the removing of the sprocket less stressful when the puller operates smoothly.

That’s a cool puller unfortunately I have the sprocket with a lip. I’ve been able to put a jaw type puller on it but it just won’t budge. This engine also had an aluminum bushing under the clutch hub instead of ball bearings. Kinda cool never seen it before.

best to get shed of that aluminum bushing. It will wear out quick. (15) 5/32" balls is what should be in there. You may have to cut your chain off (if ya dont got a master link in it) and pull the sprocket off from the back side instead of the lip

I had the same problem. I made a puller specifically for removing the sprocket. Fortunate enough to have a lathe in the shop. The parts are silver brazed(soldered) together. It worked great.
You're welcome to borrow it. if you want. I hope I won't be needing it again on my project.

My mistake... Won't work with a flanged sprocket.

Thanks for the tips and advice. I’ll definitely get rid of the aluminum bushing and go for the ball bearings. As far as pulling the sprocket off I’m not quite sure still how I’m going to get it to bust free. I can get my puller to have a very good purchase and still when I try to wrench on the puller to remove the sprocket I can’t get it to budge. I’m afraid to ruin the shaft I guess I could try getting the sprocket red hot but I think that might cause more damage as well. I guess I just keep trying.

Have you tried tapping it with a hammer?
One methods of getting a tie rod end to come out of its hole is to give the hole a rap with a hammer to break its grip loose. Use caution when applying this force.
Maybe placing a small dowel near the crank shaft, on the sprocket teeth and giving it a rap with a hammer will break it loose. Go around in a circle like you are tightening lug nuts.
Maybe pushing onto the crank shaft will allow you to remove it from the shaft.
