I can rebuild your crank and have the new seals. I can bore your cylinder also.

Hello JIm, havent heard from ya in a while. Ya still hard at it? I just finished up a 1942 U Navy big flattie for a friend of mine, got his 39WLDR too. . Also got the 1950 Military 125 I am restoring for Tom. I found all 3 cables NOS. The 50 throttle cable is one year only and it came with the installation instructions and all the little mounting hardware. These original cloth cables are impossible to find any more

Mutt I’ll take you up on the offer. If I sent you my cylinder and piston along with my crank could you see if they need work or if there good how they are?
Please let me know where to ship everything.
Thanks

What kind of compression tester are you using?

If you're using the kind with a spark plug hole adaptor and hose and the Schrader valve is up at the gauge, you're not getting a true reading because the hose is adding to the combustion chamber volume.

To get a true compression pressure reading, you need to use a tester that has the Schrader valve in the spark plug hole adaptor.

For more info on this subject, Google THE TRUTH ABOUT COMPRESSION TESTING where this is explained in greater detail.

Pull your sparkplug. Ground it on your cylinder head and crank the engine over to see if you have a spark at the plug. If you have spark then you may need to address a crank seal issue or a low compression issue. If you don't have spark at the plug install another and recheck. If spark is there with another plug you just identified a fouled plug as your "engine no start" issue. If you still have no spark with another plug then you surely have another ignition related issue.

I started taking my engine apart again and when I pulled my cylinder off I noticed that one of my rings was partially stuck inside the groove on the piston. I’m assuming this could be the culprit for my low compression reading (55psi) and why my engine wouldn’t fire. I’m wondering if that sounds reasonable and if so should I make the ring a bit thinner or the groove a bit larger or both? Thanks
