Fitting cylinder over rings

Postby Emerica1975 » Fri Sep 30, 2022 12:25 am

I’m having trouble getting my cylinder to fit over piston because it’s such a bugger getting the rings to stay closed at locating pin while trying to slide the cylinder down over the top. Does anyone have a better way to do this?
Thanks!

Make sure ring grooves are clean and rings do not stick.
Used a wide hose clamp making sure the ring end is at the ring stop.
Not too tight because the clamp needs to slide down piston.
Go slow when lowering the cylinder skirt over piston.
Use a lot of oil so as not to scratch piston.
Go slow.
Once the rings are in the cylinder, remove the hose clamp.
