Since there was not a tail light on my brother's 1955 Hummer, he made his own. The bracket he made in his high school metal shop class. Not perfect but serviceable. For lights, Bill visited our local Western Auto. He bought two red 999P clearance lights. If my memory is correct, these cost 99 cents each in 1964. Bill painted the inside white to make them brighter. For a plate light, he cut, melted actually, a hole in the tail light lens using a candle and an old kitchen knife. I think this light also needs to go back on the Hummer just like the air cleaner.

Your brother sounds pretty talented.

If you don't mind my asking. what direction did his career path take?

Thanks for asking but he had a very short life, 17 years. He was killed by a drunk driver while walking along our road. I was the 6 year younger brother that "helped" him work on his Hummer.
