I work with Panhead City in Rome Ga. As the name implies, we do a lot of Harley Panhead restoration as well as most Old Harley big twins. 2 stroke single cylinders are a mystery though!. I bought a guys old storage parts and found a 1952 hummer frame and front forks. Also pretty much all of a 165cc motor. Not sure I can get the piston to move!
Plan is to build a "pit" bike to carry around on RV. Believe me this pile of parts is not restoration quality.
First question is about living with a magneto on these bikes. On the big bikes they are a pain but on the 165 I will not be running lights so the question about running magneto has come up to keep weight down. Any thoughts?

what year is the 165 motor?

Magnetos rock. Put them on every non stock (and some stock) 45's and Panheads. Where in the cylinder is the top of the piston?

Mutt. You got more was than me if you loved them on Pans! Never got them to go first kick and you had to have bike tuned like a fiddle. Lot less compression on 165 so think I'll go that route...
