Parts Identification

Postby John » Mon Jan 20, 2020 1:28 pm

Can someone tell me which fork tube caps are correct for a 1954 ST 165 as well as which oil cups would be correct? I also took a couple of pictures of two parts that I don't know what they are for. I don't think they are for my bike. Can anyone ID them for me?

there should be a 3/16" diameter peen peened into both ends of the neck stem. Other wise, your handlebars will just spin no matter how tight you tighten the pinch bolt

Mutt, I see no sign of these drive pins or peens in any of my three parts books. Is there a part number for these?

There is no part number. Get yourself a 3/16” solid steel round head rivet about 1 1/2” long and cut ya a piece off of it about .015” longer than the stems diameter, the push it into the neck stem and peen both ends so it can’t come out Easy job, just need a ball peen hammer

I need some help identifying the correct parts to use on my 1954 ST-165 on three items. Also, after identifying the correct parts for my 1954 could you let me know what year the other parts are for?

u bolt muffler clamp used on all low pipe models from 1957 onward. single lip exhaust port clamp used on 1955 and later all models. Shifter on the left (-58) was used on all models from (some say)1960 but all swingarm models for sure. Lever on right (if it has splines) is for the 52-54 S & ST models, if it is smooth bore, it if for 1955-1959 models
