Restoration 1953 165 ST

Postby Jgeekie54 » Mon Mar 29, 2021 3:37 pm

Hello All
I am wanting to know how to go about removing the primary chain sprocket. I need to split the case.
I know the clutch basket is reverse thread......that is off. The nut holding the sprocket on is a regular thread.
That too is off. Am I to now pry the sprocket off or somehow make use of a puller? The primary chain does not have a split link.
Please help before I do any damage.
I have just finished with my father the restoration of a BSA Bantam D1 which shares the same engine although very different.
I now need something to ride along side him.....My 165ST will do nice but still a lot of work to do.

Also, huge shout out to Duane Taylor of Taylor Classics for all his help with this resto. What would we do without you Mr. Taylor. Happy Belated Birthday.

Anyone know how to upload a photo to attach....any tips.....I am having trouble. My photos are under the requirement.

Thank you

Jamie

Thank you Charles for pointing out I have an early sprocket and a puller will suffice.
Take care
