hello again. finally brought the bike home so I can work on it in a real garage. I have the cover off the generator and tried to find some output from it with the bike running. only see voltage through wire on the points and it is the same as battery voltage. when I discount the battery it dies. Also, the lights and horn are not connected. I should see some voltage at the positive and negative wires from the brushes right?? it should run without the battery right?? any advice with this would be appreciated. Thank you

I would check the power output at the BAT terminal of the regulator for voltage. If ya rev it up , the voltage shoul dincrease. Yes, a properly functioning generator will run the bike if it is disconnected after ya start it
