Help ID Little Motor :?:

Postby Mike C. » Mon Jun 10, 2019 1:20 pm

Hello All:

I hope this isn't too far off topic here since I don't believe this is any kind of HD motor, but I just picked this up and have no idea what it is. Came from a swap meet and the owner didn't know either.

No kickstart mechanism visible. Clutch and gear shift levers are there, as is a compression release.

Gears look good! And appear similar to the Super 10 as far as design goes.

I was thinking maybe a DKW?

Any thoughts appreciated. Al Gore's Internet has not been too productive.

Came with a Bowers ceramite sealed spark plug.

Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mutt:

Can you dial me in a little more?

It's pretty small and has no kicker that I can find! Also, control levers on top and front?

Another view from front and rear...

I Thought at first maybe a Royal Enfield flying flea, but your motor is backwards from the Flying Flea. Do ya see any maker's mark on the magneto?

The absence of kickstarter and the shift selector up on top the case has me thinking something moped-ish but moped motors usually have pedal shafts coming through the cases . From the placement of the clutch release arm, it would appear to have a crankshaft mounted clutch. Wish I knew.

I'm with Mutt. It looks like there is a stamping on face of the magneto (above the large slot). If you can get a closeup of that or better yet, read it, it might lead somewhere.

I see a foundry hallmark cast into the base of the cylinder on the left side. Can you make it out?

I see the carb in the one picture. What brand is the carb? Amal, BING, Del Lorto?, etc?

I thought possibly Villiers too, but an image search turned up nothing similar. Also looked at Puch, Sachs and Zundapp. Only thing was this Sachs 98 which appears to have the same magneto.
