Help ID Generator Rotor

Postby billc » Tue Jul 30, 2019 10:02 am

I bought some generators off EBAY and could use some help identifying one of the rotors ( the one on the right ) . The gen it came with was a 4 brush and the brush holder plate is mounted with screws instead of rivets . The other gen was also a 4 brush and had a riveted brush holder and a 165 rotor.

looks like the one on the right may have came off a Sprint. The brash plate is a replacement. Ya can't put it on with rivets, because the coils are in the way, so there is no way to back rivets and set them

Sprint, who'da thunk ? I investigated putting the brush holder on the riveted frame (after removing the broken holder and rivets ) and the coils were too close to the frame to run a tap in the holes. Use self tapping screws maybe ?

Use a bottom tap. You only need to screw it in about 2½ turns. Just watch the bottom of the tapas ya screw it in
